Self Care, the not so fun way

This isn’t what I’m normally blog about, but I’m sitting, waiting to see my dermatologist this morning for my annual skin cancer check. I foresee a biopsy in my near future, which is never fun, but anything is better than not catching cancer early, right?

In my teens and early twenties I worked outside and wasn’t always perfect about putting on sunscreen. After a scare five or six years ago, I’ve been diligent about getting anything suspicious checked out, especially since Kai was born.

Cross your fingers for good news for me, and make sure you are taking care of yourselves, too. Weird looking moles, moles that change color, hurt, or bleed, or anything that’s bothering you should get checked out!

Summer Capsule Wardrobe for a Toddler #1

Here’s a peek at how the sewing for Kai’s Summer Capsule Wardrobe is going. I made a Twig + Tale Evergreen Bonnet and Pixie Shorts from a 100% wool blazer. The blazer was a great thrift find. It was a size 16 so there was lots of material and it was Pendleton wool so it was great quality.

I did felt the wool before cutting (an extra long hot cycle in the washer and a fully dry hot cycle in the dryer). This was my first time sewing clothing with a sewing machine and I think it went really well. The Twig + Tale patterns were really easy to follow and had embedded video for some of the tricker things incase you were confused.

I think it’s off to great start!
